MEXICO CITY Seven holes before the four-putt that sank his third round, Tiger Woods bent his 9-iron around a tree while playing his second shot on the eighth hole at Club de Golf Chapultepec.Woods missed the fairway to the left off the tee and played his second shot standing next to and slightly behind one of the countless trees lining the fairways in Mexico City.He was able to hook his ball 166 yards up the right side of the hole, but lost the use of his 9-iron when he bent the shaft around the tree on his follow through.Woods immediately began examining the shaft to see if it had been damaged and determined that he would be unable to use the club for his remaining 10 holes.

I would just replace it with a new shaft. Most .370 iron shafts will fit a putter, depending on how the hosel is configured. A slight amount of heat until the epoxy loosens and you pull the old shaft and reshaft with a new iron shaft. Put the bar in the vice and insert the pot on the hole. Press the pot home and hold while SLOWLY pulling the shaft with the tube. I have repaired a lot of mixer pots like this and you probably got an 80% chance as the shaft is brass as opposed to modern die cast which breaks more easily. Good luck

Your 5 iron should be a bit shorter in overall length. So the 7 wood probably should be 3-5 yards longer. Which club do you hit most consistent. I would take out the 5 iron and see if you need it during your next 3-4 rounds. If you feel you do then take out the 7 wood and do the same trial with that club.
