Wild weather at Riviera just fine with Spieth

LOS ANGELES Jordan Spieth may have been the only player with a noticeably upbeat outlook following a blustery day at Riviera Country Club.Officials halted play at 12:18 p.m. PT on Friday because of sideways rain and winds that made conditions dangerous for fans and players, but Spieth seemed unfazed on his way to a 3-under card through 16 holes. For Spieth, the conditions felt similar to last weeks AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which he won by four strokes.

We knew it would be interesting today, and last week actually was great prep for it because we played through conditions like this that first round, said Spieth, who is tied for fourth place, two strokes off the lead.So just about trying to stay patient. Things aren't going to always go your way on a day like today. Actually rarely are they going to go your way.Last week at Pebble Beach, play was called on Day 1 because of similarly unplayable conditions and the second round wasnt completed until Saturday, the same thing officials are hoping to accomplish this week at Riviera.
