Furyk, Weir round out Prez Cup assistant captains
PALM HARBOR, Fla. The team rooms at the upcoming Presidents Cup have gotten a little more crowded.For the first time in the events 23-year history, both captains will be allowed to have four assistant captains on their roster. The change matches the one implemented for last years Ryder Cup at Hazeltine.U.S. captain Steve Stricker had previously named Tiger Woods, Davis Love III and Fred Couples as assistants, and Tuesday at the Valspar Championship he announced that the fourth American earpiece will go to Jim Furyk.For Furyk, its another responsibility to add at an already busy time. He had previously been named captain for the 2018 Ryder Cup in France, and he follows in the footsteps of Love who served as an assistant in Korea in 2015 before captaining last years Ryder Cup squad.
