"When I go to Hilton Head or The Players, Ponte Vedra, or come here, I get good feelings about it," Love told reporters. "Tend to play well at the same places over and over again. I like old, solid golf courses. This really suits me."This is Love's second stint on an early leaderboard in recent weeks, as he also challenged at The Greenbrier Classic after an opening-round 63 before fading to a T-29 finish.Love played sparingly last year while rehabbing from injury and guiding the U.S. to a victory at the Ryder Cup, but with no captaincy obligations this summer he has been able to put his lifetime membership on Tour that comes with winning 20 or more tournaments to better use."I've been playing a lot," Love said. "Played six out of seven weeks, and other than that big long golf course in Charlotte I felt pretty good about my game. Ryan Moore reminded me after a couple holes today, he said, 'You know, last time we played together it was a Sunday (in 2015) and you won.' I want to play more with Ryan Moore."
