Poulter shutters eponymous clothing line
Ian Poulter's run as a clothing designer will soon come to an end.For the last several years Poulter has been seen on the golf course wearing his own threads, having launched Ian Poulter Design back in 2006. But Tuesday the clothing line announced in a tweet that it will shut down effective April 2, and included a note from its creator:
We are sad to announce @IJPDesign is closing down. We'd like to thank all of our loyal customers who have supported us over the years. pic.twitter.com/R75mkar9ak IJP Design (@IJPDesign) March 8, 2017"It has always been our aim to run a unique and high quality product business that reflected my personality and passion for the game of golf, and my love of fashion both on and off the course," Poulter wrote. "Ultimately, however, we have been unable to justify its continuation after many years of investing in the business and a number of attempts to reshape it against an ever-increasingly competitive landscape."Poulter missed much of last season because of a foot injury, and he entered this week ranked No. 202 in the world. The Englishman is currently playing the PGA Tour on a medical extension, and has five starts left to earn $199,181 or 143 FedEx Cup points in order to retain his playing privileges.Poulter is in the field this week at the Valspar Championship and has already accepted a sponsor invite into the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
